Frankie Paul, real name Paul Blake (born 19 October 1965, Kingston, Jamaica – died 18 May 2017, Kingston, Jamaica) was a Jamaican dancehall reggae artist. Born almost blind, he was dubbed by some 'The Jamaican Stevie Wonder'. Varianti: Stai visualizzando tutto Frankie Paul.

One of the greatest and most prolific Dancehall singers since the early 1980s, Paul has a rich, soulful voice like a honey-coated stick of butter. He releases more albums per year than many artists put out in a career, and somehow he manages to maintain an exceptional level of quality throughout. Born mostly blind, Paul has been called the "Jamaican Stevie Wonder," and he was encouraged by Wonder himself after singing with the Motown legend as a teen.

Frankie Paul has a voice that improves with each release and, although initially compared with Dennis Brown, he has evolved a strange nasal, throaty style that makes him sound much older. It's the sheer exuberance of his best performances that give away his youthfulness, and his two London appearances have been joyous occasions. Paul’s rich tone and impressive vocal range would have graced any style of reggae music, but time and place dictated that he stood in the vanguard of an 80s dancehall revolution that essentially ditched roots reggae’s interest in social, political or religious matters and turned instead to more down-to-earth or downright frivolous topics. His last public performance came that year in Jamaica and he released an album, Frankie Paul Sings Dennis Brown, early this year. He is survived by six children and four grandchildren, and by six sisters and three brothers. Frankie Paul (Paul Blake), singer, born 19 October 1965; died 18 May 2017.
