Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren owned a store called SEX that sold various fetish items. He asked the band to write a song about bondage and sadomasochism, and lead singer John Lydon (. Johnny Rotten), having already grown tired of McLaren, wrote the lyrics not about a sexual submissive, but about an underwater vessel, the first line of which is, "I'm on a submarine mission for you baby. Part of the band's debut album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols, "Submission" was also part of an early demo of the album Malcolm McLaren pedaled to record companies in the Summer of 1976 (he found a taker in Virgin). Sex Pistols is a box set anthology of the career of the punk band The Sex Pistols with singer Johnny Rotten. It was released on 3 June 2002. The set comprises three themed CDs and an 80-page booklet. The first disc features Never Mind the Bollocks, the band's only studio album, in its entirety, as well as four B-sides and the band's first demo session. The second disc has demos and studio outtakes, from July 1976 to January 1977 and from the Never Mind the Bollocks sessions

Sky blue and white 1970s company labels with Virgin in pink and red. This issue with 11 tracks listed on rear sleeve features matrix combination A3, B1 only. SPOTS is a reference to the package :- LP, shrink wrap, sticker, 7" single & NMTB poster. Submission' one-sided 7" single. B-side has a silent groove which plays from the centre outwards.
