Most bands usually wait two or three albums before the "big statement," but this is the Mission. Kicking off with one of the longest fade-ins in rock history, Children is a sprawling (hell, to not call any album that starts out with a seven-plus-minute "intro" song sprawling is just wrong), of-its-parts affair, with multi-layered arrangements,.
The Mission (known as The Mission UK in the United States) are an English gothic rock band formed in 1986. Initially known as The Sisterhood, the band was started by frontman Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams (both from The Sisters of Mercy), soon adding drummer Mick Brown (Red Lorry Yellow Lorry) and guitarist Simon Hinkler (Artery and Pulp). Aside from Hussey, the line-up has changed several times during the years and the band has been on hiatus twice.

Mission - Children - LP Vinyl Album. Disc: 1. 1. Beyond the Pale. 2. A Wing and a Prayer. 4. Tower of Strength. It was hands down the best album of the Mission's career and, if there was a better album released in 1988, I sure haven't heard it. I can only hope that, in this era of remastering everything, Polygram gives the Mission their due. Kudos all around. 2 people found this helpful.
