Everything Sucks (Descendents album). The album's cover marked the return of the band's Milo character, last used on their 1985 album I Don't Want to Grow Up. Studio album by the Descendents. September 24, 1996 (1996-09-24). Everything Sucks is the fifth studio album by the American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1996 through Epitaph Records. It was their first album of new studio material since 1987's All, after which singer Milo Aukerman had left the band to pursue a career in biochemistry. The remaining members (bassist Karl Alvarez, guitarist Stephen Egerton, and drummer Bill Stevenson) had changed the band's name to All and released eight albums between 1988 and 1995 with singers Dave Smalley, Scott Reynolds, and Chad Price.

To hear it told, the reason why yet another Descendents reunion happened might have been because Epitaph wasn't going to sign All on their own. Then again, it all depends on who one talks to. Regardless of rationale or the nagging suspicion that the mid-'90s breakthrough of Green Day and the Offspring was the only reason this album got recorded, one fact remains: take this out of its surrounding context and this was and is a prime Descendents album.

Album · 1996 · 15 Songs. After Green Day brought pop-punk to the masses in the ‘90s, the time was right for the Descendents to return with their first album of new material in almost a decade. Though their production is beefier and slicker than it was in the '80s, proudly snotty shout-alongs like "Everything Sux" sound just as juvenile as any of the band’s goofy classics. But joyous tracks like Thank You display a gratitude that only comes with age, making Everything Sux a welcome return from the nerd-punk icons. Everything Sucks Descendents.
