Chords for Osanna & L Bacalov - Milano Calibro 9 - Preludio with capo transposer, play along with guitar, piano, ukulele & mandolin.
The film "Milano Calibro 9" (Milan Calibre 9) is a "noir" inspired by some short stories of the writer Giorgio Scerbanenco (Kiev, 28 Jul. 1911 - Milan, 27 Oct. 1969) and it was conceived by Fernando Di Leo as a kind of "vehicle to express his sociological, anthropological and philosophical point of view" about the world of crime and the turmoil of Italy in the early Seventies. This is not a full Osanna album since several parts were not composed by the band but by the director of the orchestra which supported the band for this release. Which is the soundtrack of a second rank Italian movie. That being said, there are several interesting passages, full of classicism and romanticism.
Caliber 9 (Italian: Milano calibro 9) is a 1972 poliziottesco film written and directed by Fernando Di Leo and starring Gastone Moschin, Mario Adorf and Barbara Bouchet. The film is based on a book of the same name written by Giorgio Scerbanenco. The soundtrack for the film, Preludio Tema Variazioni e Canzona, is a collaboration album between Luis Enríquez Bacalov and the Italian progressive rock group Osanna.
Public service announcement: Osanna's Milano Calibro 9 is not exactly the movie soundtrack, despite the album saying it is. I have seen the film, so I should know. Those not knowing Italian might have the impression this is an art film, helped by the psychedelic artwork on the album cover. It is not, especially since "Calibro 9" translates as "Caliber 9", obviously referring to a pistol, meaning it's a crime film, naturally. Watching the film, what you have is actually variants of themes you hear on the album, but are not exactly the same. Many of the songs, like.
Osanna followed L'Uomo with Milano Calibro 9 in 1972. A crime film directed by Fernando Di Leo was called Milano Calibro 9 and Argentinian orchestra conductor Luis Enriquez Bacalov and Osanna provided the music for the movie. The resulting album, Milano Calibro 9 aka Preludio Tema Varazione Canzona wasn't the actually music for the movie, despite the album saying otherwise. It, in fact, is variants and different versions of songs used in the film, as well as a bunch of stuff never featured in the film.
Second album, Preludio, tema, variazioni, canzona, also known as Milano calibro 9 from the name of the film for which it was chosen as soundtrack, is a step backward, with few band compositions mixed with composer Bacalov's orchestral themes. Some of the Osanna tracks are beautiful, though, like the first three Variazione. Third album, and their best one, Palepoli, from 1973 sees the band at their peak. The album only contains three long tracks and is housed in a nice gatefold whose inner picture is based on the band live stage background
