If you’re a fan of the more rowdy & bands like Junkyard, Tangier, Badlands and the like, you’ll want to give Royal Court of China a try. – Off The Beat’n Path EP – The Royal Court Of China – Geared & Primed – New Machine.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee ROYAL COURT OF CHINA first appeared with a self-titled debut album through A&M in 1987. The group had 'stolen' the band name (a reference to Chinese opium) from LED ZEPPELIN man JIMMY PAGE after reading a magazine interview with the man. The legendary guitarist claimed that he had wanted to use the moniker for what would turn into THE FIRM but he had been advised not to due to its drug connotations.
But for the most part, Royal Court of China spent most of the 80s playing a sorta-hip style of country-rock. In fact, the closing track on their first album is an homage to Cash called The Man In Black. But in more direct numbers like It’s All Changed, you can hear echoes of what would come next. In 1988, after the usual musical differences bullshit, half the band was replaced, and Royal Court of China went back into the studio to record their follow-up album with Motorhead producer Vic Maille
The debut album by Tennessee's Royal Court Of China is really a nice piece of work. The album would be produced by the band, not a known producer. this surprised me how well they did!) Here are key tracks: "It's All Changed"- Classic opener. It's all changed, now that your gone. The Last Day" - great guitar by Oscar Rice. Tye" - A very good instrumental. Its all changed the first track has deep south blues and heavy guitar mixed with Joe Blantons vocals blend nicely. They are very melodic. While no song on this album is heavy metal they would later be forced by AM to metal up. But Man in Black is the seminal song on the album. Great intro and vocal climb like you have never heard before.
