There he met the violinist Christian Ferras, eleven years his junior, with . In 1987, Georges Farret collects the testimony of Peter Barbizet on Christian Ferras : "Ferras and I remain as the interpreters who have always tried to live what is written, especially in the sonatas of Debussy and Enesco. My hope is that our records will advance young people in feeling the reality of the text.

Christian Ferras, Debussy, Enesco, Ravel ‎– Enesco & Debussy Sonatas. Label: His Master's Voice ‎– ALP 1980. Sonata No. 3 In A Minor, Op. 25 (Enesco). B1. Sonata In G Minor (Debussy). B2. Tzigane,Concert Rhapsody in D Major (Ravel). Piano – Pierre Barbizet.

Ferras recorded his first LP In May, 1954, featuring Brahms Concerto with Karl Schuricht and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. This year, thanks to the French luthier Etienne Vatelot, Ferras acquired the 1721 "Le Président" Stradivarius, with which he made this reconding of French Sonatas in 1960. First made in UK on HMV ASD 531 White & Gold EW1 Stereo Label, Program: Enesco Violin Sonata no 3 in A minor, Debussy Violin Sonata in G minor, and Ravel Tzigane. Christian Ferras, violin, accompanied by Pierre Barbizet at the piano.

The Franck and Debussy Sonatas were recorded respectively in 1959 and 1960 and paired together on the original LP. The Enesco sonata, though recorded in 1967, wasn't apparently released on LP before 1983, coupled then with Dvorak's Four Romantic Pieces and sonata movements by Schumann and Brahms. The sound in the earlier recordings is stupendous, but surprisingly seems a little more distant in the Enescu (or Enesco as he was known in France), with more audible tape-hiss - maybe the reason for not releasing it at the time? - though it remains very present and entirely acceptable.

Their violin sonatas were composed only several years apart: Debussy composed his sonata at the end of the First World War (1916-1917) - its first performance was for the benefit of all soldiers with eye injuries - whereas Ravel's sonata was composed between 1922 and 1927, and first performed by the composer at the piano with violinist Georges Enesco. In the second half, Pelléas et Mélisande by Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951), symphonic poem composed in Vienna between 1902 and 1903, a time when Parisian audiences were also discovering Desbussy's opera by the same name. Post-Romantic, written as he began composing his famous Gurre-Lieder, the work is made up of one single movement divided into four parts: Lento - Allegro, Scherzo - Presto, quasi adagio, and the Finale. Renaud Capuçon and Lahav Shani perform the Sonata for violin and piano in g minor by Debussy.
