Geography is the debut album by Front 242, released in 1982. Some tracks differ notably in sound).

There was a soldier War material Under the rain Soulkilling Complain And life to sustain Pain No pain There will be ructions More rebellions Looting, rout He's afraid of such a waste. There was a soldier Warm material Under the sun For old acquaintances' sake Don't make such a mistake Please Oh please There will be ructions More rebellions Looting, rout Drugs tell upon one in time.

Listening to Geography in the 21st century is a surprising experience in ways; one can tell exactly who's making the music, but things were still incredibly different at the start for Front 242. That said, the edge of the band is fully present, but the sheer amped-up level of brute aggression isn't. As a self-consciously modernist electronic body music act, though, Front 242 made a good debut, with a lot of the familiar elements of the group - de Meyer's disembodied, passionless voice, Codenys and Daniel B's ears for threatening atmospherics - in place

Geography being Front 242's debute album started an entirely new form of electronic music, . they started ebm, or electronic body music. As with any debute album, yes this one also has a problem and that is the sometimes over simplified lyrics, something that improves over time. The new art for the cover is vastly superior to the one with the face and I have no idea what the band was thinking.
