Kind of Blue is a music group formed in Hamburg in 1995. Currently, the band consists of Lidia Kopania (vocals) and Bernd Klimpel (guitars). In 1996 Kind of Blue played their first concert for 600 people near Hamburg, Germany. After approximately 100 concerts in two years, Kind of Blue entered the talent competition the John Lennon Talent Award. Several weeks later, Kind of Blue signed a contract with Eastwest Records and started to record their first album.
Blue in Green" is the third tune on Miles Davis' 1959 album, Kind of Blue.
There were several important records released in 1959, but no event or recording matches the importance of the release of the new Miles Davis album Kind of Blue on 17 August 1959. It sold very well from its first day, and it has sold increasingly well ever since. It is the best-selling jazz album in the Columbia Records catalogue, and at the end of the twentieth century it was voted one of the ten best albums ever.
Kind of Blue isn't merely an artistic highlight for Miles Davis, it's an album that towers above its peers, a record generally considered as the definitive jazz album. To be reductive, it's the Citizen Kane of jazz - an accepted work of greatness that's innovative and entertaining. That may not mean it's the greatest jazz album ever made, but it certainly is a universally acknowledged standard of excellence. Why does Kind of Blue posses such a mystique? Perhaps it's that this music never flaunts its genius. It lures listeners in with the slow, luxurious bassline.
The Sound Of Miles Davis. Stereo albums were cut (and what seems to be his understanding of the room these players recorded the album in). From 2010 on, . or both (I can’t hear the room anymore on the 2010 Legacy cut or on.
Miles Davis'Kind of Blue, which was released 50 years ago today, is a nearly unique thing in music or any other creative realm: a huge hit-the best-selling jazz album of all time- and the spearhead of an artistic revolution. It's cool, romantic, melancholic, and gorgeously melodic
Kind of Blue popularized a new approach to improvisation. Rather than basing its five tunes on a rigid framework of changing chords, as was conventional for post-bop music, Davis and Evans wrote pieces with a more limited set of scales in different modes. Modes maintain the basic intervals of an underlying major or minor scale, but move the tonic (first note) to one of its other notes, creating different moods or coloration. As this detailed video on modal jazz by Polyphonic explains, this creates a more open network of harmonic relationships
Released September 29, 2017. Some Kind of Blue Tracklist. 1. Dark Was the Night Lyrics. This was Noire’s debut LP. The song ‘Baby Blue’ appeared on their EP and drove the direction for the creation of this LP. The tracks on this album are full of deep syths, with a bluesy feel to them accompanied by soothing sensual vocals. Some Kind of Blue Q&A.
Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue hardly needs an introduction. Many thousands of words have been written about its legendary composition and recording, about the extraordinary ensemble responsible for its existence-Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, and a young Bill Evans-and about the year of its release, 1959, a watershed moment in the history of jazz, and of nearly all modern music . As is now part of jazz folklore, notes Fordham, the New York sessions that produced this remarkable album were completed in a handful of takes over just a few hours, with a minimum of compositional materials.
