Calvin Harris‘ new album is out now!! The 33-year-old Scottish DJ just dropped his fifth album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 – and it’s filled with collabs from tons of artists! PHOTOS: Check out the latest pics of Calvin Harris. Artists like Frank Ocean, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Nicki Minaj, and many more entertainers are featured on songs with Calvin. Earlier this month, Calvin dropped the latest single off of the album – Feels – which features Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Big Sean.
Laced with only 10 records in total, the follow up to 2014’s Motion features guest appearances from some of the biggest names in the music business, including Future, Big Sean, Migos, Young Thug, Pharrell, Lil Yachty, Travis Scott, Khalid, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande & more. Meanwhile, production is handled entirely by Harris himself of course. 1 is a triumph; a good-time album of wall-to-wall hits with a carefree, funky tropical feel and more than enough cool points to see him embraced by the hipster crowd as well as holding on to the pop kids. The second was the departure from classic electronic dance that Harris is known for. The third is the fact that Slide somehow was a single. Migos just need to stop and that high pitch elf singing is so annoying. There are two decent tracks on the album- those being Skrt on Me and Feels. I hope this is a blip for Harris.
Since his debut album, Harris has produced, written, and performed all of his tracks himself, but never before has he quite so insistently reminded us of that fact. In the video for Feels, he stands lanky behind Pharrell, sporting a newly grown muso beard and slapping his Ibanez 1200. Squint, and he could be Jesse Hughes taking a calypso breather from Eagles of Death Metal Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 is a breezy distraction from an emcee stalling while he plans his next party trick. Neither reinventing pop nor changing the course of dance music, it’s a vacation of an album that doubles as the producer’s own stopgap until his next wave comes along.
Grateful is the first album to log more than one week at No. 1 since Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. ruled the list for three consecutive weeks (May 6, 13 and 20). Between DAMN. and Grateful, seven albums took turns at No. 1 for one week each. Debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 is Calvin Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, earning the superstar DJ/producer his highest charting album yet. The star-filled dance-meets-R&B/hip-hop effort features guests ranging from Frank Ocean and Katy Perry to ScHoolboy Q and Nicki Minaj. Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 was released on June 30 through Fly Eye/Columbia Records and launches with 68,000 units, which is bigger than some had anticipated. Of the album’s debut sum, 23,000 were in traditional album sales, 6,000 were in TEA units and 39,000 were in SEA units. At No. 3 on the new Billboard 200, DAMN. stays steady, earning 56,000 units (down 6 percent).
The Bob Dylan Complete Album Collection Vol. One is a colossal box set encompassing the entire official discography of the American who's revolutionized folk, pop and rock music over the past half century with a profoundly influential catalog of songs and sounds. The Bob Dylan Complete Album Collection Vol. One also brings together for the first time, on two "Side Tracks" discs, a wealth of previously released non-album singles, tracks from Biograph and other compilations, songs from films and more. The other major draw is the two cd "Side Tracks," which collects some of his best songs to never make actual albums.
