Operation: Mindcrime. Progressive Heavy Queensrÿche. This is a concept album, with the story line concerning a hit man for the mob, and an ex-hooker who turned into a nun. Basically, the mob paid him to kill her, because she knew too much about their criminal organization. This is a long album, with 15 classic metal songs, to stretch out the story.

Operation: Mindcrime (also known as: Geoff Tate's Operation: Mindcrime) is a progressive metal band that is fronted by the former lead singer of Queensrÿche, Geoff Tate. It is named after Queensrÿche's 1988 album of the same name. Various musicians have contributed to the band, both live and in studio and it features members such as John Moyer (also known for being in Disturbed) and Simon Wright (also known for his work with AC/DC and Ronnie James Dio).

Queensrÿche’s third studio album, and one of the band’s earliest successes, Operation Mindcrime tells the story of a recovering drug addict called Nikki who is tired of how corrupt the society he lives in is, and ends up becoming a sleeper agent for an underground revolutionary movement that deals in assassinating political figures. Operation: Mindcrime Q&A. Featuring Pamela Moore. Producers Peter Collins. Writers Chris DeGarmo, Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton & 1 more. More Queensrÿche albums.

The story picks up with the identity of the killer revealed and Nikki's obsession with revenge on Operation: Mindcrime II. Cool eh? Maybe, maybe not; it depends on your point of view. In any case the most startling thing about II is its sound: pure 1980s heavy metal

The band retained the cinematic intensity of the former, while telling a story involving conspiracy theorists, assassins, drugs, a corrupt priest and several clever plot twists. The album leant itself to a theatrical stage presentation and opened the doors for other bands to experiment with similar structures  . Operation: Mindcrime finally went platinum in 1991 after Queensrÿche performed the record front-to-back on tour to promote their 1990 album Empire. Eighteen years after the release of Operation: Mindcrime Queensrÿche put out the sequel Operation: Mindcrime II.

Operation: Mindcrime II is the ninth studio album by the American progressive metal band Queensrÿche. It is a concept album and the sequel to the group's 1988 release, Operation: Mindcrime, which had achieved both critical and commercial success. Mindcrime II was released on April 4, 2006 in the United States, on March 29 in Japan, on March 31 in Germany, and on April 3 in the rest of world, with the Rhino Entertainment label providing distribution
