The NME once reckoned there was a clock inside John Beltran's head stuck fast at 5 am. It was because his music appeared to inhabit a pre-dawn state between the dancefloor and the soon to be sex or dream-soaked duvet, a special area where soft rhythm and ticking sensuality were neatly intertwined. John Beltran has a new album on the way. The Belgian label De:tuned will handle the Michigan producer's new full-length, which follows a pair of albums for Delsin, last year's Everything At Once and Espais, released in 2015. John’s debut solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band was recorded over a month long period from the end of September 1970 at Abbey Road. Working Class Hero’ is typical of many of the songs on the album in its honesty and openness. John’s lyric, A working class hero is something to be, rings true of his own situation, brought home by the fact he was now living at Tittenhurst Park, a Georgian Country House surrounded by 72 acres. It’s a song that has resonated with many in the intervening years having been covered by David Bowie, Roger Taylor, Elbow and Ozzy Osbourne among many others.
John met his long term musical partner Taupin in 1967, after they both answered an advert for songwriters. For two years, they wrote songs for artists including Lulu, and John worked as a session musician for artists including the Hollies and the Scaffold. In 1969, John's debut album, Empty Sky, was released.
