Album More of the Monkees. I’m a Believer Lyrics. I thought love was only true in fairy tales Meant for someone else but not for me Love was out to get me That's the way it seemed Disappointment haunted all my dreams. Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer Not a trace of doubt in my mind I'm in love, I'm a believer! I couldn't leave her if I tried. I thought love was more or less a givin' thing Seems the more I gave the less I got What's the use in tryin'? All you get is pain When I needed sunshine I got rain

Written by Neil Diamond, I’m a Believer wasn’t actually written for The Monkees. The song found its way into the group’s orbit through Don Kirshner, who’d been aware of the success Diamond had found with Cherry, Cherry. Diamond also recorded his own version of the song for his 1967 album JUST FOR YOU, but it’s fair to say that The Monkees ended up with the bigger hit. In 2008, Mojo interviewed Diamond and asked him if he’d ever resented the success that The Monkees had with his song, and the answer was a resounding no. I was thrilled, because at heart I was still a songwriter and I wanted my songs on the charts, said Diamond.
This song is by The Monkees and appears on the album More of The Monkees (1967) and on the compilation album Greatest Hits (1995). I thought love was only true in fairy talesMeant for someone else but not for me. Love was out to get meThat's the way it haunted all my dreams. I'm a Believer & Other Hits is a budget-priced Monkees compilation released in 1997. It contains 10 of The Monkees' greatest hits. Many tracks are in their stereo single mixes; thus, "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" is without handclaps, and "Listen to the Band" has a shorter organ bridge. The album includes one track from the 1980s reunion, along with one previously unreleased track "Ceiling in My Room", taken from the Birds the Bees and the Monkees sessions.
