His Masonic Funeral Music, K 477, is a slapdash affair which betrays an uneasy assimilation of period practice. From feast to famine: to think that the Dutchies at Philips once commissioned one such project after another. Peter Schreier's Dresden-based survey of Mozart's works for the latter brings him into competition with Kertesz's classic survey from November 1968. While he is the better recorded of the pair, it is not to his advantage. His Masonic Funeral Music, K 477, is a slapdash affair which betrays an uneasy assimilation of period practice.
