Then & Now is a compilation album by British rock band Asia, released on 14 August 1990 by Geffen Records. It consists of two parts titled as Then and Now. The first part is five songs from previously released albums, while the second part includes four new songs and "Voice of America", which was inexplicably added to Now. Then & Now has received negative reception from music critics
The lists predominantly feature American and British music from the 1960s and the 1970s, topped by The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with a top 10 that featured four entries from The Beatles ( 3, 5 and 10), two from Bob Dylan ( and 9), and one each from The Beach Boys ( Marvin Gaye ( The Rolling Stones ( and The Clash (. Sly and the Family Stone.
Sly's 1969 album Stand! burst with optimism. But he met the Seventies with implosive, numbing, darkly self-referential funk that was deeply compelling in its anguish over dreams deferred. Sly and the Family Stone created a musical utopia: an interracial group of men and women who blended funk, rock and positive vibes. Sly Stone, the Family mastermind, was one of the Sixties' most ambitious artists, mixing up the hardest funk beats with hippie psychedelia in hits such as "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).

He finished a demo of the work by July 1978; the double album then took the band a year to make. Jimi Hendrix's first album remade rock & roll with guitar magic that no one had ever dreamed of; his second album had even more sorcery.
Jimi would have moved forward, using samplers and sequencers in the 90s (given his forward thinking approach to tech and gear), teamed with hip hoppers and explored other genres back then, and by now would be way beyond that, exploring varied musical approaches hard for the TGP populace to fathom. I have trouble believing he would have stayed playing in a traditional guitar based rock formula.
