The World Column was a late 1960's R&B band whose releases are now coveted by northern soul collectors. In fact, their second single, 'So The Sun', released on Tower Records, provided the basis for Paul Weller's Jam-era composition 'Trans-Global Express'.
World Column has been played on NTS shows including Launette's Hour w/ Laura Coxeter, with So Is The Sun first played on 30 December 2012. The World Column was a late '60s R&B band that featured among others Joel Kaplan and Dave Meyer. Their single "Lantern Gospel" was released on ATCO on June 27 1968. Their 2nd single "So Is The Sun" on Tower Records provides the basis for The Jam's song Trans-Global Express. Their releases are now coveted by Northern Soul collectors.
