Holding Back the Years" (Mick Hucknall/Neil Moss) – 4:12 from Picture Book. Money's Too Tight (to Mention)" (John Valentine/William Valentine) – 4:29 from Picture Book.

Mick Hucknall is without a doubt the greatest singer, writer, and musician of this century and this Simply Red Greatest Hits CD album covers all his hits up to 1996. However, I bought it for that wonderful song, Holding Back the Years, which Mick wrote and comes from the Picture Book album. I had that on cassette, which was wearing out from all the use, hence this CD will last a long time. The supplied book with lyrics was very helpful, as I wanted to confirm the words mater and pater, which of course mean mother and father respectfully.

Simply Red - The Greatest. has been added to your Cart. Simply Red's shimmering Pop Soul and elegantly heart worn balladry have provided a glistening, emotional soundtrack to our turbulent times. Their phenomenal career has spanned three decades; they've released 10 studio albums racking up over 50 million global sales, notched up over 30 top 40 UK singles, countless awards including three Brits, two Ivor Novello's and a Mobo Special Achievement.

Simply Red. 25: The Greatest Hits. Simply Red's second major hits collection not only celebrates their illustrious 25-year career but also marks the end of it, thanks to Mick Hucknall's announcement that he will henceforth only be working under his own name. The much more comprehensive 25 features all but two of the tracks included on 1996's Greatest Hits, plus several tracks from the commercially inconsistent last decade. Of course, it's the late-'80s and early-'90s material that made Simply Red, essentially a solo vehicle for Hucknall, a household name.
