John Elliott is a modern and aspirational men's apparel company.

John Elliott: Emeralds synth player; Spectrum Spools label boss; unreformed workaholic. As with his other Emeralds bandmates, Elliott turns out solo records at an impressive rate. His discography continues to expand with centrifugal force with the release of another LP under the Outer Space moniker, titled II. The album is set to arrive later this month on Blast First Petite, and will be limited to 1000 copies.

And under the Outer Space moniker, Elliott has just added to the already-long list of Emeralds-related releases with a new self-titled album. According to a press release, the Outer Space project "is a laboratory for electronic investigation. Acting as a continuance of the studies of mid 20th century electronic music composers such as Nik Pascal and Laurie Spiegel, Elliott's music is deeply indebted to the inner workings of the electric signal.

John Elliott, founder of Spectrum Spools, and Drew Veres are back with a new Outer Space album called Gemini Suite. Outer Space is a synth project that revolves around the core duo of Elliott, a former member of Emeralds, and Drew Veres, along with a number of occasional collaborators like Drew McDowell and Ralph Hausmann.

The last thing we actually worked on with a focused effort was this Gemini Suite album, and that material's almost two years ago. We have this thing where we get all this stuff done and maybe 80% of it is a no-go and 20% of it works. I think the working relationship is good because both of us are satisfied with how each other operates.

It’s experimental space sounds. And the album is perfect for pre-gaming before seeing Prometheus or just enjoying an evening cooking pasta with gram grams. Akashic Record (Events 1986-1990) will be released July 17 on Elliott’s own Spectrum Spools (not to be confused with my amateur label, Sphincter Pools). Emeralds' John Elliott surfaces on Blast First Petite with his second Outer Space album of 2012, following the recent Akashic Record (Events: 1986-1990) on his own Spectrum Spools label. Working with Andrew Vere, Philip Whiteside, Drew McDowall, Adam Miller and Jeff Hatfield, using primarily Mellotron-400 and modular synthesis, Outer Space II apparently marks the severance of the project's preoccupations with death and anxiety, and an attempt to explore a more open, breathable sound and mood.
