His "Royal Telephone" was the first song by an Australian Indigenous performer to top the pop music charts in 1960 (at a time when Aboriginal Australians were not recognised as Australian citizens). He also had a top 10 single "Baby Blue". He was managed in his later years by Graham Bidstrup (aka Graham "Buzz" Bidstrup). In 1999 he won Best Contemporary Album in the ARIAs (for "Messenger", also being inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame same year.

Jimmy Little (carpenter). James Andrew "Jimmy" Little (born January 14, 1976, Woodbridge, Virginia) is an American carpenter, stagehand and television personality.
James Oswald Little, AO (1 March 1937 – 2 April 2012) was an Australian Aboriginal musician, actor and teacher from the Yorta Yorta people and was raised on the Cummeragunja Mission, New South Wales. From 1951 he had a career as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, which spanned six decades. For many years he was the main Aboriginal star on the Australian music scene. His music was influenced by Nat King Cole and American country music artist Jim Reeves.
His gospel song "Royal Telephone" (1963) sold over 75,000 copies and his most popular album, Messenger, peaked at No. 26 in 1999 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Jimmy Little was the recipient of many awards and is one of Australia’s most decorated musicians. He was the first Aboriginal person to have a top 10 single in Australia. At the 1997 Mo Awards, he was awarded the John Campbell Fellowship for "an outstanding contribution to the community beyond his normal career in the entertainment industry"
