Franz Schmidt: Symphony No. 3; Paul Hindemith: Concerto for Orchestra Op. 1992.
These are from the version of o. 53 as a piano (2 hands) and orchestra work - which was prepared, though whether which Czerny's approval I do not know - the orchestral parts may be slightly different for the marginally more familiar piano-4-hands and orchestra version, likely for balance reasons, just as they are in another way in the string parts to. Franz Schmidt's quintets for left-hand piano when the piano part is arranged for 2 hands. Concerto for Piano 4 Hands and Orchestra.
Konzertmusik fr Streichorchester und Blechblser, op. 50 (1930) On 2 March 1929 Serge Koussevitzky contacted Hindemith and asked him to compose a work of his own choosing to be performed in 1931, when the Boston Symphony Orchestra would celebrate its 50th anniversary. Hindemith probably knew the four-hand Weber piano pieces which he used for the Symphonic Metamorphosis because he and his wife had played them at home; they are all found in his private library. Paul and Gertrud Hindemith attended the concert. Since then, the work has been one of Paul Hindemiths best-known orchestral compositions.
