Garolou is a French Canadian folk-rock group created in 1975. It was originally called Lougarou, but had to change its name after being sued by a dance troup named Les Loups-garous. The group became popular not only in Quebec but across Canada, with its rock sound and its lyrics taken from French and French Canadian traditional songs. In 1993 the band made a return supported by many concerts each year. The band released in 1997 a live album called Réunion that captured Garolou's live experience and, two years later, a brand new album called Mémoire Vive. Garolou has won two Felix Awards (ADISQ Gala) for the albums Garolou (1978) and Romancero (1980) and a Gold certification for the album Garolou (1978). La complainte du Maréchal Biron".

La Complainte Du Maréchal Biron. Essentially, this is 'Lougarou', a French Canadian progressive/folk rock band that released one self titled album in 1976. A year or so later they were forced to change their name for legal reasons, re-emerging in early 1978 as 'Garolou'. The band lineup was altered a bit, with guitarist George Antoniak replacing Gilles Beaudoin, and keyboardist Reginald Guay stepping in for Steven Naylor. Side 1 contains some very smooth progressive rock with jazz/folk undertones.

Garolou is a music studio album recording by GAROLOU (Prog Folk/Progressive Rock) released in 1978 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. This juxtaposition of Celtic and rock and roll styles is handled with panache. The most popular track on FM radio was "La complainte du marechal Biron", and its suspenseful tale of the king's right hand man who came to Paris to "play with the queen" continues the theme of lovers and friends turning against each other. Musically this is also a gem, with fine acoustic guitar throughout and string synths, which seemed to be Garolou's keyboard of choice, but not overdone.
