The songwriting and performances on Nosferatu are absolutely astounding. The riffs are exceptionally well written, with a melodic yet extremely sharp and choppy style of writing, with a strong level of technicality in their writing without coming off as overly indulgent. The arrangements are extremely crisp, and while the song structures are mostly verse-chorus, the band shifts between riffs with an extremely strong level of both ease without the transitions becoming overly jarring. While it’s not quite a perfect album, Nosferatu is, without a doubt, one of the best traditional metal albums ever and absolutely essential listening if you are at all interested in that style of metal whatsoever.

NOSFERATU put out only one album in their short career that being this self titled release from 1970. The sound quality could be better but it's not a hinderance. So yes there is some variety here and they are sort of hard to pin down to just one genre. Highway" brings to mind Jimi Hendrix right away, mostly because of the tone of the guitar and to a lesser extent the vocals. The organ really stands out on this track.

Nosferatu & Nolz.

At the gates of hell I stand alone Waiting for the call Now my time has come to pay the price For the things I've done. I can see but there's nobody there I can hear but there's so much I fear In the dark I can feel but my senses are gone I can tell but the damage is done In the dark. Return your soul it's the end of the line Return your soul it's the end of time. Can I believe what I saw in the night Can I believe I was right The face of a demon with eyes turning black Nosferatu Can I believe what I saw in the night Can.

Note: the Ohrwaschl CD issues are the complete authentic to the original LP editions. On the Longhair version a section of Willie The Fox is cut-out reducing the track from 10:49 to 9:20. Quite why this is so is a puzzler, as there are no faults with the tape Ohrwaschl used, and to top it all, the section that Longhair omitted is a key highlight of the track, a weird jazzy psych break. If you know the album, that just doesn't sound right without it!
