The Quests was a Singaporean band. Some sources considered them the most successful Singapore band of the 1960s. In 1960, Chong Chow Pin (referred to by his nickname "Jap"), Raymond Leong, Henry Chua and Lim Wee Guan often listened to British music records featuring the electric guitar. This first book on Singapore's greatest pop group is an autobiography by one of its founders, bassist Henry Chua, who wrote "Shanty", the first original pop composition to hit No. 1 on the Singapore charts
The album features all four of the group’s members (Jarobi makes a comeback and even spits some bars!) plus a host of guests - André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, Jack White, Anderson. Paak, Talib Kweli, and Consequence and Busta Rhymes, two longtime Tribe collaborators. The result is a phenomenal album with that classic Tribe vibe but set firmly in this era at the same time. We Got It From Her. hank You 4 Your Service certainly is one of the highlights of 2016 and a more than worthy addition to Tribe’s monumental catalog.
referencing 007 Shanty Town, LP, Album, DLM 5007. Finally getting a repress (though a limited one for now it seems). The song "007 (Shanty Town)" made Desmond Dekker Jamaican music's first outernational superstar - I remember hearing him at a very young age and being moved by his soulful voice over the irresistible marriage of the Staccato guitar chords and the offbeat keyboard. This was his first album, it's interesting to hear Ska developing into Rocksteady, but most the material isn't very strong. Other than the title track, "Rude Boy Train" and "Personal Possession" are the highlights

The Wellington Sea Shanty Society (Aotearoa New Zealand) and Croche Dedans (France) are two tempests of pure shanty who got together in a salty studio off the West Coast of France in April 2017 to record an album of traditional and original sea shanties!
