Oh! Carol" is an international hit written by Neil Sedaka in 1958. The song was co-written with Howard Greenfield. The song reached in the American charts in 1959. It also earned Sedaka his first ranking when it went to on the Italian charts for four weeks in January 1960. After release of single, it was included in the album Neil Sedaka Sings Little Devil and His Other Hits. The song is noted for Sedaka's spoken recitation of the verse, the second time around.

Album Neil Sedaka Sings Little Devil and His Other Hits. Oh! Carol, I am but a fool Darling, I love you, though you treat me cruel You hurt me and you make me cry But if you leave me, I will surely die. Darling, there will never be another Cause I love you so Don't ever leave me, say you'll never go. I will always want you for my sweetheart No matter what you do Oh! Carol, I'm so in love with you. Darling, there will.

Neil Sedaka never gets the respect that he deserves because he's a man out of time. Pop was his medium, whether it was 45s or individual songs, and when they're collected as a body of work as they are on Bear Family's eight-disc Oh Carol: The Complete Recordings 1956-1966, the result is a little exhausting. There are two problems: the first is that his non-hit material is simply not as strong as his hits, but that's not the big problem - no, the big problem is that half of this set is dedicated to non-English recordings, which is solely the province of archivists and completists.

Neil Sedaka's career was on the rocks before this song. At Aldon music, producer and longtime friend Don Kirshner gave Sedaka the following advice: "Write a song with the girl's name in the title. Talk in the middle like The Diamonds did in 'Little Darlin'. Sedaka, who co-wrote the song with Howard Greenfield, recalls the inspiration slightly differently. He moved with his family to England, where he worked on his album Sedaka's Back, striking a deal with Elton John to release it on Elton's new label, Rocket Records. The first single, "Laughter In The Rain," did well in the UK and went to in America, returning him to glory. Neil Sedaka rocks! Mary from San Jose, Cai love the song called oh carol.
