The Sisters of Mercy are an English rock band, formed in 1980 in Leeds. After achieving early underground fame there, the band had their commercial breakthrough in the mid-1980s and sustained it until the early 1990s, when they stopped releasing new recorded output in protest against their record company WEA. Currently, the band are a touring outfit only. The group has released three original studio albums, the last of which was released in 1990.

It also saw an increase of the groups popularity. Morrison claims she did contribute to the recordings of the album and with many disputes, it ended with her leaving the band shortly after unknown German guitarist Andreas Bruhn joined in 1989. Eldritch assembled a new group to record their third and, so far, final album, 'Vision Thing', released in 1990 – first recruiting Bruhn on guitars in '89, and then Tony James (formerly of Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Generation X) on bass in '89, and lastly Tim Bricheno (All About Eve) on guitars in '90.

Led by the single This Corrosion, the album was very much the solo vehicle of Andrew Eldritch’s interests with Morrison and Steinman’s influence limited. Spawning the singles More and Doctor Jeep, the band has refused to released any subsequent material due to disputes with their record label.
