Features Song Lyrics for Dovetail Joint's Dovetail Joint album.
A dovetail joint or simply dovetail is a joinery technique most commonly used in woodworking joinery (carpentry) including furniture, cabinets. log buildings and traditional timber framing. Noted for its resistance to being pulled apart (tensile strength), the dovetail joint is commonly used to join the sides of a drawer to the front. A series of 'pins' cut to extend from the end of one board interlock with a series of 'tails' cut into the end of another board.
These are 10 degree dovetails and 1/2″ long. I also used my marking gauge to score a line around each blank to precisely mark the end of the dovetails: With the layout carefully done, I moved on to cutting out the maple piece using the hacksaw and 1/4″ chisel. Eventually I got the fit whittled down so that the parts go together for a pretty tight joint: Not 100% perfect, there are some very small gaps, but the main thing is that the corners of both pieces line up exactly and the joint is snug enough to hold together on it’s own. To clean up the pencil marks and score lines, I sanded it with 220 grit paper: Miraculously, the joint will go together nearly perfectly from the other direction as well. The high fashion shots
For the woodworking joint, see Dovetail joint. Dovetail Joint was a rock band that formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1992. After several years of playing locally, as well as independently releasing their self-titled album in 1995, the band started to garner interest after their song "Level on the Inside" was featured on an annual compilation disc of local radio station WKQX Q101. Columbia Records quickly signed the band and released 001 in early 1999.

During this time, Dovetail Joint amicably parted ways with Roger Jansen and KMA, leaving the band without management and in a showdown with their label. Columbia/Aware had to decide whether or not they wanted to pick up the bands contract option. They pushed back the deadline twice. In September 2000 the band met with Aware's Gregg Latterman and was told that Columbia didn't hear the "obvious single. The label cut funding until the band delivered an "undeniable hi. Joe, Robert, Jon and Chuck decided that it was over between Dovetail Joint and Columbia records. Rather than writing only for the approval of a label, the band decided to leave and look elsewhere for support. In April 2001, after six months of legal wrangling to come to acceptable departure terms, the band was finally free to pursue other ventures.

The ‘DOVETAIL JOINT’ is very strong because of the way the ‘tails’ and ‘pins’ are shaped. This makes it difficult to pull the joint apart and virtually impossible when glue is added. This type of joint is used in box constructions such as draws, jewellery boxes, cabinets and other pieces of furniture where strength is required. It is a difficult joint which requires practice. There are different types of dovetail joint and when cut accurately they are very impressive and attractive. Example of a simple dovetail joint as part of a 'Box' construction. This type of dovetail joint is often used for drawers where the joint can only be seen from one side. The joint is very strong as are all dovetail joints. This type of joint is sometimes used as the joint for book cases and cabinets. Draw a joint that could be used for a cabinet.
