Star Booty an EP mini-album by the American post-hardcore band Bitch Magnet. The record documents the band's early line-up, and was one of the first records produced by Steve Albini after he ended his group Big Black. Star Booty was first released independently in 1988. It was paired with the band's debut full-length album and re-issued by Communion the following year. In 2011 Star Booty was remastered by Alan Douches and released in a box-set with the rest of the band's catalog.

Often compared to Slint, this characterization isn't particularly accurate. On Star Booty, the group prefers to remain locked into their guitar riff powerband - letting up for meandering experiments and dark ruminations isn't much of a consideration. This lust for horsepower is most evident on the churning "Hatpins" and "Circle . Unlike the more dynamic Slint, Bitch Magnet hardly ever shakes the rampant attitude expressed on these numbers. Collectors will do well to find a vinyl copy of Star Booty

Bitch Magnet Star Booty+. For an album that came out in 1988 this is a stunning achievement. One can certainly hear the influence of contemporaries like Dinosaur. Jr and Twin Tone bands, but, it's the math-rock guitar cool (that would so wonderfully color the subsequent band, Seam) and emotional resonance of the LP that sets it apart.
