What a Wonderful World" is a pop ballad written by Bob Thiele (as "George Douglas") and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released in 1967 as a single, which topped the pop charts in the United Kingdom. Thiele and Weiss were both prominent in the music world (Thiele as a producer and Weiss as a composer/performer). Armstrong's recording was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
The album features appearances by Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, John Parish, Nina Persson and Dave Fridmann. It was the band's most successful album commercially, selling over 63,000 copies.
Well thank heavens Louis Armstrong didn’t stay in New Orleans and instead chose to spread the word that is jazz around the globe. However, Louis was not the first singer to whom he offered ‘What A Wonderful World’, history has since revealed that Tony Bennett had first of all turned the song down flat. Louis, a man in the November of his years, was able to nail its sentiments perfectly when he recorded it in August 1967 The President of ABC-Paramount Records couldn’t have disagreed more, he virtually banned the company from putting any effort into promoting the song and in America it disappeared without trace.

I never said I was sober. I went out of my way never to use that word, because I wasn’t. I’ve been smoking pot since I was 18 and never stopped. Today, I have 15 days completely sober and I don’t think I should write these words which is exactly why I’m going to. I’ve battled depression since I was a teenager. When is ‘Nathan For You’ on? Best painless ways to die? Are they sure-fire? How long will I feel it if I drown myself? How to make a blueberry pie in only an hour. Nearest artisanal noose stores in Williamsburg. I’m so thankful that I’m typing this right now (is this Times New Roman? I’m not sure). Reach out. There is light at the very bottom of the tunnel you’ve buried yourself under, or maybe had fallen on you inadvertently. There is no problem worth killing yourself over. I wish I hadn’t done drugs but maybe that’s why I’m here now.
