Sometime Anywhere is another dark, epic, and exotic masterpiece by the Aussie legends that propelled the band into the next phase of their career. Reissued on blue & orange vinyl from Plain Recordings. on. t is not the usual Church album an it lacks continuity,but it still contains some great songs. If the slbum was more fleshed out and Powles banged on every song,and Peter played alongside of Marty,I think it would have been a heck of a one disc album. Playing 'Sometime Anywhere' led to people leaving the room. No one wanted to hear The Church if they didn't deliver the expected sound, I think we all knew after the 80s exactly what a lot of ears were hankering for. This outing wasn't for them, but it was for those of us who'd heard the dabbling throughout the years on songs such as "Field of Mars" or "Disappointment".
The departure of Peter Koppes reduced the Church down to a core duo of Steve Kilbey and Marty Willson-Piper, though on the bright side the drum slot was finally permanently filled by Tim Powles, whose excellent playing easily matched up to Richard Ploog's best work, if not bettering it. Sometime Anywhere is the ninth album by the Australian psychedelic rock band The Church, released in May 1994. After the commercially unsuccessful 1992 album Priest Aura, founding guitarist Peter Koppes had departed, leaving the band down to just two original members, Steve Kilbey and Marty Willson-Piper, plus Priest's drummer Jay Dee Daugherty. With the group's future uncertain, the members took time off to focus on other projects, while Koppes began to establish a solo career with his new group, The Well, which included former band mate Richard Ploog
