This double LP is the best Claude Thornhill collection thus far since little of his music has yet appeared on CD. After his theme song (the haunting "Snowfall") and a 1937 recording of "Stop! You're Breaking My Heart" with singer Maxine Sullivan, Thornhill's 1941-1942 and 1946-1947 orchestras are well featured on this set.

Claude Thornhill (August 10, 1908 – July 1, 1965) was an American pianist, arranger, composer, and bandleader. He composed the jazz and pop standards "Snowfall" and "I Wish I Had You". As a youth, he was recognized as an extraordinary talent and formed a traveling duo with Danny Polo, a musical prodigy on the clarinet and trumpet from nearby Clinton, Indiana. As a student at Garfield High School in Terre Haute, he played with several theater bands
