The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle is the soundtrack album of the film of the same name by the Sex Pistols. By the time the soundtrack was being prepared, Johnny Rotten (Lydon) had left the band and refused to participate in the project, so the "proper" Sex Pistols tracks were done by taking Lydon's vocals from the October 1976 demo session recordings and rerecording their instrumental tracks (done by Paul Cook and Steve Jones).

An album that has me playing this game has an obvious problem. Rock This World has a dearth of personality, save the attempts at identity theft, and it doesn’t endear the record one bit. The songs where this phenomenon does not take place are invariably dull and bland, like a mouthful of unsalted mashed potato. The most egregious offender on this front is the disastrous closer Smooth Hit Love, an almost 9 minute power ballad that was neither wanted nor advisable. The instruments are balanced quite nicely, aside from the inexplicably undercooked bass. The vocals are top dog, but they don’t overwhelm the mix, and the master is dynamic enough to give the drums a nice and natural definition. Rock This World leaves me torn. On the one hand, I don’t want to punish a band for the artistic choice to emulate 80’s heavy metal, as many do the same, some of them quite well.

Rock 'n' Roll Music is a compilation album by The Beatles that consists of previously released Beatles tracks considered by many to be quintessential "rock and roll".

Four songs survive from the fractious sessions with producer Phil Spector in late 1973 that ignited the album, and listeners to any of the posthumous compilations that also draw from those archives will know that the best tracks were left on the shelf - "Be My Baby" and "Angel Baby" among them. But a gorgeous run through Lloyd Price's "Just Because" wraps up the album in fine style, while a trip through "You Can't Catch Me" contrarily captures a playful side that Lennon rarely revealed on vinyl. The remainder of the album was cut a year later.

Rock’n’ Roll is ten tracks of going back to basics with good ol’ unadulterated Rock-n-Roll with a dash of in some tracks. Beginning with Bring It On Back, the guys hit it off solidly with Keith and Stevie’s clean guitars and Kelly’s bass accompanying in tandem with Xavier’s drum work as Josh belts out Buckcherry’s return. One gets the image of them in big band formation, jamming.

Additional songs from the Rock 'N' Roll sessions ended up on the 2004 reissue, as well as on the 1986 Lennon outtakes LP Menlove Av. Rock 'N' Roll – which was going to be titled Oldies but Mouldies until a black-and-white photo of a 20-year-old Lennon in Hamburg inspired the cover art and a new title – managed to make it to No. 6, and was Lennon's last album before his five-year retirement  . It's also a final chance to hear one of rock's greatest figures coming to terms with his Beatles past on an album his old band probably would have made had they stuck around a while longer. It's far from perfect, but rock 'n' roll, and Lennon for that matter, rarely is. Beatles Solo Albums Ranked.
