Argentine composer-performer Dino Saluzzi is a bandoneonista, a master of the button-box accordion that was invented in 19th-century Germany but is best known as the native voice of the tango. Born in 1935, Saluzzi has had a wide variety of musical experience in various genres such as folk, jazz and tango, but his own very individual music defies easy classification, definitely haunted by the wistful soul of tango but perhaps reaching a little further, toward Argentina's native heritage, alloying the sense of longing and nostalgia with exquisite delicacy and understatement.
The Kultrum collaboration between Argentinian bandoneon master Dino Saluzzi and the Munich-based ralian Rosamunde Quartet was initiated in 1996. Featuring Saluzzi's chamber music for bandoneon and string quartet, Kultrum is both a "departure" and an extension of Dino's previous ECM recordings (in fact the title echoes that of his first disc for the label), in which - as Swiss critic Peter Rüedi has noted - he acknowledges and then transgresses the boundaries: between composition and improvisation, between so-called serious
This article is about the music group. For the composition by Franz Schubert, see String Quartet No. 13 (Schubert). The Rosamunde Quartett is a German string quartet ensemble formed in 1992. It is named after Franz Schubert's String Quartet N. 3 . 04 and the incidental music Rosamunde on which the slow movement of this piece is based. Its members consist of Andreas Reiner (violin), Diane Pascal (violin), Helmut Nicolai (viola), and Anja Lechner (cello). Joseph Haydn: The Seven Words (ECM 1756 NS). Timoteo "Dino" Saluzzi (born May 20, 1935 Campo Santo, Salta Province, Argentina) is an Argentinian bandoneon player. He is the son of Cayetano Saluzzi and the father of guitarist José Maria Saluzzi. Dino played the bandoneón since his childhood. Other than his father, he was influenced by Salta musicians such as Cuchi Leguizamón, and by the lyrical strain of the tango of Francisco de Caro and Agustin Bardi.

1998, 'Kultrum' by Dino Saluzzi and the Rosamunde Quartett was released. About the album’s mix of cultures, Saluzzi said: We have to be true to the idea of the simple people. We have to wake up to the human being more, to remain true to our dreams and our utopias, for our job is nothing if it is only for us. Relive this unique recording here: ln. o.
