I believe in the Creed of the Greedier, and La Coka Nostra is a brand you can trust. If you dig the music, pay for it. The album has a few killer guest spots, including Vinnie Paz from Jedi Mind Tricks, Ill Bill's cohort in Heavy Metal Kings. If you haven't checked that out either, do yourself that favor. They both bang hard enough to make your chest cave in.

La Coka Nostra (short LCN) is a hip hop supergroup from the United States composed of DJ Lethal, Danny Boy, Ill Bill and Slaine. Founded in late 2004 with no intention to record an album, La Coka Nostra was more a loose collective of artists connected through Danny Boy than a group. Having taken time off from rap after the break-up of House of Pain, Danny Boy took to working in video production and fashion as well as mentoring other artists.

The musical outputs of La Coka Nostra have been a slow build. Formed in 2005, the hip-hop collective dropped their oft-delayed A Brand You Can Trust to expected fanfare in 2009. Now, reuniting for their second official album-and this one without former member Everlast-Ill Bill, Slaine, DJ Lethal and Danny Boy sprinkle in all the elements of a hardcore underground release with Masters of the Dark Arts

Adam Fleischer of XXL magazine noted that "La Coka Nostra remain decidedly true to their core with their new album" and "that they are indeed masters of the dark arts".

57. There’s no need to look much further past the title to get a feel for La Coka Nostra’s latest. Ill Bill, Slaine, Danny Boy, DJ Lethal, DJ Eclipse and company unabashedly mosh in Hip Hop’s seedier side with their second full-length, Masters Of The Dark Arts, a sinister, happily violent detour from the pop-centric. It’s a sound that’s a bit out of vogue next to contemporary fare, and for the most part, absolutely appreciated. Cypher rhymes abound on MOTDA, but the narratives are the reason to reach for the rewind.
