Koenig brought in the complete score, and that evening Manne and Previn, between them, worked out the arrangements and recorded the entire album in one session, with Vinnegar providing the third "very important musical voice in the trio.

The ensuing album is a true classic that has withstood the test of time. Besides being a stunning take on what many consider to be twentieth century's finest example of musical theatre it is also a testament to mid century "modern jazz" before that term became pejorative. In my opinion one of the top 100 jazz LP's ever recorded.
