Produced in 1981 by Columbia Records.
A Collection of Great Dance Songs is a compilation album by English rock band Pink Floyd. It was released on 23 November 1981 in the United Kingdom by Harvest Records and in the United States by Columbia Records. The album's title is facetious, given that Pink Floyd are not known for making particularly danceable music. This is perhaps evidenced by the album art, which featured a photograph of ballroom dancers anchored to the ground so they cannot move
Originally released in 1981, Pink Floyd’s A Collection Of Great Dance Songs was certified Double Platinum by the RIAA in 2001. The compilation album contains alternative mixes and versions of the band’s classics including Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) and Money. Recorded live over five nights in August 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, NY, Delicate Sound Of Thunder became infamous for being the first rock album to be played in outer space.
This album contains a compilation of songs by Pink Floyd and was originally released in November of 1981. Finished with Zerostat anti-static gun to de-staticise vinyl, then given new inner and outer sleeves. Pink Floyd - A Collection of Great Dance Songs.
The actual songs are remastered and sound great! If you are looking for the most songs for your money check out Best of Echoes. It has all the songs here on it and many other great songs. At first glance, I can see why someone might make that assumption. This album was compiled by David Gilmour without the participation of the rest of the band.
Listen to 'Money' From Pink Floyd's 'A Collection of Great Dance Songs'. It wasn’t perfect, but the album worked well enough. home of Pink Floyd), refused to license the version of Money that had appeared on Dark Side. or at least not for a free that Columbia was willing to spend. Missing one of the band’s best-known songs wasn’t an option, and it fell to Gilmour to record a new version of Money. The now-complete compilation was given the ironic title of A Collection of Great Dance Songs, a sly reference to the disco rhythms of Another Brick in the Wall and/or drummer Nick Mason’s joke that Floyd’s . label probably thought they were a dance band. The album’s art (created by Hipgnosis, under a pseudonym) reflected the gag, depicting a pair of dancers held in place.
Released in 1981, A Collection Of Great Dance Songs ( 6⁄10 ) was castigated for its conceitedly humorous title which only served to make the band appear pompously remote; of course, we’re far too good to make dance music
