Growing up in Middlesbrough in the 1970s, Chadwick – who is principal of London-based graphic design studio Popular – found his aesthetic shaped by the geometric forms and unapologetic concrete masses that dotted the landscape of his youth.

Peter Stumpp (died 1589) (whose name is also spelled as Peter Stube, Peter Stubbe, Peter Stübbe or Peter Stumpf) was a German farmer, accused of werewolfery, witchcraft and cannibalism. He was known as 'the Werewolf of Bedburg'. The most comprehensive source on the case is a pamphlet of 16 pages published in London in 1590, the translation of a German print of which no copies have survived

Peter Chadwick, graphic designer and author of This Brutal World, picks six of his favourite examples. One thing that Chadwick's free selection of projects does make clear is how little being big and aggressive has to with Brutalism.
