Not to be confused with James Hatfield. Hetfield performing with Metallica in Paris, France in 2012. Some of the options considered included adding another guitar player, having John Roads play lead guitar, as well as asking John Bush from Armored Saint (who later joined Anthrax) to sing for the band. The finalized line-up of the band became Hetfield (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums), Dave Mustaine (lead guitar), and Ron McGovney (bass) who was soon replaced by Cliff Burton. During the recording of the band's eighth studio album St. Anger in 2001, Hetfield went into rehab to address his alcohol usage. He rejoined the band after seven months in rehab and four months recovering with his family.

And without you, I am lifeless. Without you, I’m unable to find my purpose in this world. Without you, I can’t remember who I am and where my feet are dragging me. Without you, my heart is blanketed with confusion, and my mind is dizzy with self-doubt. And no one has ever made me feel this way before. No one has braved to take a risk, to come near me, and to actually get to know me. No one has made an effort to bring out my mega-watt smile by their witty banters. No one has challenged my beliefs and principles in my core

Home Sweet Home is track on Mötley Crüe’s 1985 LP Theatre of Pain. Although so-called power ballads existed prior to this song, it’s probably the first one that influenced an entire generation of rock bands to record at least one power ballad for release as a single on each record; virtually every band emulated Home Sweet Home. Originally, Elektra Records didn’t want to release the song due it sounding too different from the band’s previously released albums. After threatening to leave, the record label released Theatre of Pain with the song included. It was a response to us from being gone so long during Shout At The Devil. It was our first time. A tour bus picked us up at our little tiny apartments and we took off to go play some shows, and 18 months later we got dropped back in our little apartments. I was calling Tommy like, ‘Hey, what are you doing?’ ‘Sitting here.
