In 2014, we started to work with our second album entitled "The Plague." We had some lyrics as well as fragments for the title track. The writing went slow for a while, but at the beginning of 2015 we managed to put 10 songs togehter that we all were satisfied with. The songs were recorded in late 2015 after a lot of technical problems during the recording. We contacted Roberto Toderico, who did the artwork for "Where the Angels Fall," and he made some awesome artwork that fits well with the concept of the album. The Plague is basicly 10 diffrent song that all deal with the concept "plague," all from a futuristic perspective to a more ancient perspective.
The lyrics are also about how people justify terrible act by pretending to be chosen by god or by gods. The album is a mixture of different types of metal. We were not bound to boundaries when we created songs for Mordenial. Our definition of the "The Plague" is a heavy album with a lot of variation. We are very satisfied with the songs that came out of it, and hopefully you will like them too.

Mordenial The Plague. 2. Daylight Is Gone.
Spell book: Mordenial –The Plague. Type of spell: Melancholic pestilent destruction. Hailing from the lands of Sweden, the young band, Mordenial, have a difficult task to conquer: Prove themselves as a new face on the melodic death metal game on one of the most fertile terrains of the genre.
Mordenial make their triumphant return on July 31st 2017 with their second album, The Plague which will be released via Black Lion Records. Mixing melodic death metal with a thrash sensibility, The Plague begins things strongly with the self-titled track. A heavy beat with a crunchy groove element shows that Mordenial mean business. That groove element is what drives the album forward. The thumping drum beat & blistering solo of Daylight is Gone, the crushing riffs of Burning Soil & the meaty catchiness of Salvation keep things exciting.
Mordenial maintain a grip on the listener’s attention through a full-album run by varying the mood and the pacing of their compositions - but there is no joy in this titanic onslaught. At least to these ears, it is devoted instead to renditions of grief, oppression, terror, and fury - and the renditions are impressively vivid, and impressively crushing. The Plague was recorded at Departure/Expire Studios in late 2015/early 2016. It was mixed and mastered at Garageland Studios by Ronnie Björnström
