It’s been a while since we heard from James Skelly. The last Coral album, ‘Butterfly House’ came out in 2010 in the aftermath of Bill Ryder-Jones’ departure, and since then the band have gone on one of those hiatuses we hear so much about. The time’s not been wasted – frontman Skelly has been working on a debut solo album with The Intenders (basically the remaining members of The Coral in disguise) and now the moment’s come to deliver ‘Love Undercover’ to the world. Here’s James: The album was recorded at Parr St in Liverpool

Like his fellow Wirral resident Miles Kane, Coral frontman James Skelly profits from the input of Ian Broudie and Paul Weller on his solo debut – the latter most evident in the stomping mod beat of opener You've Got It All. Elsewhere, fresh influences are ably wielded on the Western-flavoured I'm a Man.

James Skelly & The Intenders have announced details of the release of their debut album. Love Undercover will be released through Skeleton Key Records on Monday June 3rd 2013. The 11-track self-produced album was recorded in the autumn of 2012 at Parr St studios in Liverpool. Following the release of the last Coral album, 2010's Butterfly House, Skelly retreated to their Wirral rehearsal studios with a revolving cast of characters including fellow Coral cohorts and members of the Sundowners and Tramp Attack to begin work on the record that would become Love Undercover.
