200 Million Thousand is as sketchy as the band's grasp of numbers, but pleasingly so. It harks back to the days of 1960s garage rock, embracing fuzzy guitars, brevity, cheap production values and lazy, pre-punk sneers.
The songs were recorded at New Street Studio, a former art gallery in Decatur GA, near Atlanta. The band embarked on a world tour in 2009 to support this album. Over the course of eleven months, the band played 122 shows total between Europe and the United States. The band have a featured role in the documentary We Fun: Atlanta, GA Inside Out. The title was coined by Jared Swilley on the band's blog

200 Million Thousand has more hooks and is better top-to-bottom than any previous Black Lips effort. 80. Grimy and disheveled, clever and infectious, it's a sloppy heap of classic pop, psychedelic haze, spastic rock, and teenage disaffection mixed to lo-fi imperfection in some kid's filthy garage.
200 Million Thousand' is no different. The heart is till very much on the sleeve. However, so are a couple of new directions. The album is let down a little by its length, 15 tracks in all. Weaker number like 'Big Black Baby Jesus Of Today' and 'Again & Again' are a little aimless, and why one of the latter tracks is censured with bleeps is anyone but the label's guess. 200 Million Thousand' is a maintaining of form for a band with an impressive run. Here's to infinity then, and beyond of course.
Let’s be honest, kids: a band that’s pissed in their own mouths live on stage really deserves to get 10/10 for every future album they release. Pipsqueak dudes in bands across the nation, get down on your knees and pray that one day you might have a pinkie’s worth of the Black Lips swagger
