Krause's 1970 album (recorded in 1968 and '69) with Paul Beaver In a Wild Sanctuary – the first of three albums they did for Warner Bros. Records – was the first to incorporate natural soundscapes as an inherent component of the orchestration and to address the theme of ecology.

Mammals: Siamang, gibbons, orangutan Amphibians & Insects: Various species of frogs, geckos and insects.
Since 1979, Krause has concentrated on the recording and archiving of wild natural soundscapes from around the world. 1991 Bernie Krause – Tropical Thunder: A Rainstorm in Borneo (Wild Sanctuary). 1991 Ruth Happel with Bernie Krause – Loons of Echo Pond (Wild Sanctuary). 1991 Bernie Krause, Bob Dorough, Janis Lawrence & Jeff Kohler – Wild Times at the Water Hole (Creatures 'n' Kids).
Bernie Krause has been recording wild soundscapes - the wind in the trees, the chirping of birds, the subtle sounds of insect larvae - for 45 years. In that time, he has seen many environments radically altered by humans, sometimes even by practices thought to be environmentally safe. A surprising look at what we can learn through nature's symphonies, from the grunting of a sea anemone to the sad calls of a beaver in mourning.
