Election Day" was the first single released by the Duran Duran offshoot band "Arcadia" and features Grace Jones on vocals and speech segments. Arcadia’s 1985 hit single Election Day had a galvanizing effect on me, compelling me to purchase the Duran Duran spin-off’s sole album So Red the Rose. I haven’t forgotten the bitter disappointment that slowly settled in upon listening to the remaining eight songs.

Election Day in the United States is the day set by law for the general elections of public officials. It occurs on the Tuesday right after the first Monday in November(this does not necessarily mean the "first Tuesday" in a month because the first day of a month can be a Tuesday). The earliest possible date is November 2, and the latest possible date is November 8. The 2012 election was held on November 6, 2012. For federal offices (President, Vice President, and United States Congress), Election Day occurs only in even-numbered years. Election Day" was the first single released by the Duran Duran offshoot band, Arcadia. It was released by Parlophone Records in October 1985 and subsequently hit the top ten on both sides of the Atlantic, peaking at in the US and in the UK, but was the most successful in Ireland, peaking at and in Italy, peaking at (also reaching the Top 25 in Germany).

The song was written and performed by Arcadia, a pop group formed in 1985 by Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor of Duran Duran, during a break in that band's schedule.

So Red the Rose is the platinum-selling album by the Duran Duran-spinoff group Arcadia, which was released in 1985 - the only album the band ever released. It included the singles "Election Day", "Goodbye Is Forever" and "The Flame". The album peaked at on the Billboard 200 in January 1986 and at on the UK Albums charts in December 1985. There were many musical guests on the album, including David Gilmour, Herbie Hancock, Grace Jones, and Sting (who provided backing vocals on "The Promise").
