Dennis Carl Wilson (December 4, 1944 – December 28, 1983) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter who co-founded the Beach Boys. He is best remembered as their drummer and as the middle brother of bandmates Brian and Carl Wilson. Dennis was the only true surfer in the Beach Boys, and his personal life exemplified the "California Myth" that the band's early songs often celebrated.

Brian Wilson is the debut studio album by Brian Wilson released in July 1988 on Sire Records. It was voted one of the best albums of 1988 by NME, and as part of its acclaim, garnered the nickname "Pet Sounds '88" among some critics. The album has since been reissued on several formats with bonus tracks, and cited by some as a standout in Wilson's solo oeuvre.

Brian Wilson was absent during most of the album's recording after admitting himself into a psychiatric hospital, requiring brothers Carl and Dennis to retrieve several outtakes he had recorded years earlier. While Brian does not appear on the front cover, the inner gatefold of the original vinyl release features him alone, behind an eye examination chart. The singles "Do It Again" and "Bluebirds over the Mountain" preceded the album's release by several months. Do It Again", a Brian Wilson and Mike Love collaboration, was the first track that was worked on after concluding the sessions for Friends. It was recorded in May and June 1968, released as a single two weeks later, and ultimately chosen as the opening track for 20/20.

The album begins with "Slip On Through", written and sung by Dennis. Brian later recalled "It was a really dynamic song. Dennis, I was very proud of, because he really rocked and rolled on that one. Dennis did really interesting energetic things on that. This Whole World" was composed and written by Brian, who noted inspiration from " love of the world, how people, and how people should be free. Carl sings lead vocals while Brian sings in the background; their voices were double-tracked, as was common practice. Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the '70s.

It was primarily composed by Brian Wilson and narrated by manager Jack Rieley, with Wilson providing the voice of the Pied Piper. An instrumental version of Mount Vernon and Fairway without narration appeared on the 1993 boxed set Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of The Beach Boys Reception.

This section needs expansion. The song was re-recorded by Dennis Wilson during the sessions for the unfinished Bambu album, but only the instrumental backing track was completed. Soulful Old Man Sunshine". Endless Harmony Soundtrack (1998).

For many years, people thought it would never happen  . For decades, Brian Wilson avoided even talking about Smile, the psychedelic follow-up to the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds he shelved under the stresses of drug abuse and psychiatric problems
