Surprised it's not been mentioned yet - Disco Mix piano ripped from Disco Biscuit / ECHO1000https://www.discogs.com/The-Disco-Biscuits-Disco-Biscuit/release/409273Showing my age when I say I bought and played both when they were fresh releases, still got 'em somewhere.....

9 videos for a 2 track ep!? I appreciate the efforts of people who upload music to YouTube, but get a grip; uploading tracks that aren’t relevant to the page just so you can get another view and earn 0.001 pence.

Listen to that Synth on N.H.S (Heavyweight Remix) and then listen to the end of Cybotron-Clear https://www.discogs.com/Cybotron-Clear/release/17859 its been manipulated on N.H.S but its the same Synth.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGqiBFqWCTU

Surely the best hardcore record ever made? If not, then it's no.1 from 1992. Such good memories. I have a tape I listened to a hundred times, from the edge in Coventry in 1992 with Fabio in the mix, the MC was shouting "This is the dawning, of a new era, big raves man, they're #uckin gone forever" as he drops the NHS disco mix, it was such a good vibe.

'Dope Wax' uses a sample from 'Total Madness- Peatey Wheatstraw', which was put out on Kenny Dope's 'Dope wax' label. Both Scott and Grooverider were also into house music & in my opinion, made them a touch broader as both DJ's and producers.

I have an original copy of this as stated above in the release details (disco mix) but I find the sound quality to be quite poor and my copy is practically mint. Its such a shame. The bootleg mentioned below must be even worse

The source samples aren't that great in the first place, The beat sampled from Jonny L was sampled from a live hip hop tune & is poor even from the proper mastered CD, it is being mixed live by their DJThe piano from Disco Biscuits on the original vinyl sounds about 8 bit qualitySaying that it is a great tune & in my top ten of all time :D

I did take note of this comment before i brought the tune and thanks for the info, im very lucky to say that i managed to grab a copy of this and it sounds great! you might of been unlucky and got one from a bad batch. however this tune is still well worth having in the bag :)

The track "Dope Wax" samples the new york house track "Petey Wheatstraw" by Total Madness, which appears on Kenny Dope's Dopewax record label.

black coffe

Xig

Picked this up in a second hand record shop back in 1994 and the EP has been a firm favourite of mine's ever since. Doc Scott nailed it with with 'N.H.S. (Midnite Mix)' creating a ruff and dark hardcore track giving signs of the tracks he would later release on Reinforced under his Nasty Habits moniker. The way the 'Midnite Mix' drops into a Sheefield bleep-track midaway is pure genius. Especially that bass!!! Would love to know what the 'N.H.S.' stands for?The 'Midday Mix' is a touch lighter and not as strong, but does have an interesting descending bassline incorporated into the breakbeat. 'Dope Wax' and 'The Rider' are quite experimental for early hardcore tracks which goes to show how forward thinking Doc Scott was at the time. Strong as hell EP.

Also, Nasty Habits (NHS) was the name of Doc Scott's old graffiti crew back in the day.

You had unwittingly answered your own question;N.H.S. = Nasty HabitSGreat great release, would love to have the CD single in my collection..

Goldies right hand man "Doc Scott" was his mentor back in the day and got doc scott to join the Reinforced camp every think this guy has produced is supreme even in the Drum and bass field he has cemented his reputation with deep dark classics such as Shadow Boxing, The numinoid synth riffed on that track is mind blowing!! I am thinking of apocalypse now but its this EP which gets my ears burning for more the "Disco remix" has to be one of the most emotional breakbeat tracks ever produced even Hard-core like this was beautifull in a spine tingling sort of way just shows that the Hard-core scene was not by definition hard it was appealing music for anyone who cared to listen Doc Scott has created in my opinion one of the most rushed out rave tunes of all time classic timeless.

Couldn't of put it better !

Considered by many of the experts the first major masterpiece by Doc Scott, "NHS (Disco Remix)" had what we called that true rave spirit, melting together fantastic breakbeat lines such as the one used by Johnny L on "Hurt You So", and an amazing overlap of the Amen Break with another Breakbeat line that goes together with beautiful piano lines and synth pads (which Doc Scott proved so well he knew how to create). Those pianos were enhanced on the remix by Total Sience done years later for that tune. The Heavyweight Mix should need no introduction; the bassline is very strong, the Breakbeats as powerful as well , and the ensemble is much darker, with an intense drop, creating an apocaliptical type of atmosphere; even though, there is still space for harmony which appears on the sequence with a very nice line chords pad. No further explainings are needed to answer those who ask why is this twelve inch so expensive.

This remix ep must rank as one of the greatest darkcore releases of all time from one of the true masters of the eclipse and Coventry's rave scene.Absolute perfection will never date and be pulled out of any oldskool hardcore jungle or drum and bass enthusiasts record box for eternity.

NHS (Disco remix) is easily in my top 5 jungle/drum & bass tunes of all time. Rugged drum programming, sub bass, emotive strings/auras, and that piano line. I can't say how many times I've (gladly) had this stuck in my head. Heard on many, many rave tapes from DJs across the board, and now very hard to get a hold of on wax. I guess it's the kind of tune where those who have it, don't want to let go of it! One more word: CLASSIC.
IWAS
Easily the best of all the NHS mixes, a staple of Dream FM sets, but unfortunately far too hard to get. Copies will cost, but for such a wanted tune Ive never seen any bootleg or represses of it, which is a shame as i seem to be outbid or just too late for a copy. But the bottom line is the rough beats and lovely pianos, really quite simple, but like a lot of the best old school hardcore tumes, simplicity made for the best tunes.
