The definitive release of former Ultravox frontman's seminal cold wave debut, originally released in 1980.

Metamatic - Студийный альбом от John Foxx. Вышел 17 января 1980г. В альбом вошло 52 треков. Продолжительность альбома: 02:57:49. John Foxx A New Kind Of Man-My Cover. John Foxx And The Maths - A Man And A Woman.

The Garden is a 1981 album by John Foxx, the follow-up to his debut solo album Metamatic, released the previous year. However, its instrumentation and highly romantic style is more comparable to Systems of Romance, his last album with former band Ultravox, released in 1978

While its sound is so 1980, 'Metamatic' offers a fine palette of childishly morbid sound experiments, observed in a pop context, crafted well ahead of its time. Metamatic' and also 'Swimmer 1', the obscure 1981 b-side to one of the singles from the following album 'The Garden'. In all these three songs, the Ultravox trademark sound is more present than anything Foxx achieved on his debut album. Miles Away' is the weakest song here, lost somewhere between a childishly clichéd Gary Numan wanna-be and Ure-era Ultravox.

John Foxx And The Maths are back in the studio working on a new album, this time with Robin Simon on guitar. com/watch?v SGPKNB7ctyE. John Foxx and the Maths at Memetune Studios, featuring the legendary Robin Simon on six strings. 30 April ·. Tickets are now on sale for this Q&A featuring John in Manchester on Saturday 6 July.

On Metamatic, Foxx cultivates a curious air of disinterest that never seems truly bored, but is much more extreme than even his unarguably distant vocal style for Ultravox!. It holds up as one of the peaks of the early-'80s fascination with emotionless, Kraftwerk-inspired synth pop.

2014 remaster of Metamatic album from analogue tapes - Every B-side, out-take and unreleased track has been taken from the best possible source and (re)mastered over the last 4 years. Thanks to Barnbrook and Rob Harris. The original 10-track album was remastered from analogue tapes back in 2014, along with various B-sides. Meanwhile John Foxx assembled his notebooks from the period which included lists of possible track titles that have now been used for the unreleased material on this album. Some of the notes were also scanned for the artwork, along with previously unseen photos as well as rare drawings and illustrations by the artist. Jonathan Barnbrook (regular Foxx collaborator and Bowie’s Blackstar designer) worked on the new reissue design as the project grew to 49 tracks across 3 CDs.

I first discovered John Foxx years ago through an album called "Translucence and Drift" which he made with American piano composer Harold Budd. Harold Budd has quite a few collaborations yet TD stands out as a stellar, powerful minimalist atmospheric double album. Thusly, I began to delve into the discography of John Foxx, a former Ultravox member. Before the Cathedral Oceans, there was a Garden and Metamatic. A staple of the musical "futuristic" movement, Metamatic is darker and more detached than even Numan's early works. Foxx described this album as "carcrash" music. It is definitely inspired by the cold life of the city with people being reduced to liquid form. When listening to this CD, one hears the soundtrack of the period when the 1970s turned to the 1980s.
