Mance Lipscomb, Volume 3: Texas Songster in a Live Performance - Студийный альбом от Mance Lipscomb. В альбом вошло 14 треков.
Album · 1999 · 22 Songs. Texas Songster, Vol. 4: Mance Lipscomb Live! (At the Cabale).
Mance Lipscomb (April 9, 1895 – January 30, 1976) was an American blues singer, guitarist and songster. He was born Beau De Glen Lipscomb near Navasota, Texas. As a youth he took the name Mance (short for emancipation) from a friend of his oldest brother, Charlie. Lipscomb was born April 9, 1895. His father was an ex-slave from Alabama; his mother was half and African-American. For most of his life, Lipscomb supported himself as a tenant farmer in Texas
Prior to the blues revival, Mance Lipscomb was an unknown, and his discovery was one of the positive byproducts of the revival. He was a great country-blues man, and this is perhaps his greatest effort, capturing him running through a number of traditional songs. Most of the songs are augmented by his jackknife slide guitar, and all feature his raw, haunted vocals, which make these classic songs sound timeless.

Mance Lipscomb is one of my Heroes. A Master bluesman; whose repertoire included over 250 songs. One of Greatest Accoustic Bluesman who ever lived. This album showcases his broad repertoire of Blues,Rags,Spirituals, even Spanish music. 3 people found this helpful. Mance described himself as a songster rather than a bluesman, because he played a variety of music. I bought and wore out the LPs of these two CD collections-after you listen to it to define country blues, then you study it to learn the subtlties of the deceptively simple work. Bumble bee" is an interesting contrast to the Memphis Minnies cover of the "same" song.
