The Beatles - Revolver 1966 Full Album.

The Beatles' seventh album was released in early August 1966. Following the release of Rubber Soul the group had embarked on what was to be their final UK concert tour and following a lengthy break, they returned to Abbey Road to record continually for three months. The first recordings released from these sessions, engineered by Geoff Emerick, was the single "Paperback Writer" and "Rain" and those tracks gave an indication of what was to come. George also made his mark with three of his compositions appearing on a Beatles album for the first time. Prior to the album's release, the band had set off on a short tour of Western Germany, prior to flying to Japan then the Philippines and finally to the USA for what turned out to be their final gigs, the last of which took place on 29thAugust 1966 at Candlestick Park, San Francisco.

Considered by many to be the herald of the famed psychedelic era of the 60s, Revolver features somewhat of a departure from the original rock-n-roll of the Beatles to Something that is both as melodic and acoustic as it is hard and "trippy. Track one, a classic from the mind of George Harrison, features a bass-line that feels straight from the 60s, with lyrics about the "unfairness" of taxation by the greedy "taxman

All the rules fell by the wayside with Revolver, as the Beatles began exploring new sonic territory, lyrical subjects, and styles of composition. It wasn't just Lennon and McCartney, either - Harrison staked out his own dark territory with the tightly wound, cynical rocker "Taxman"; the jaunty yet dissonant "I Want to Tell You"; and "Love You To," George's first and best foray into Indian music.

Released August 5, 1966. And, in the case of the Beatles, would be. The album featured a bigger Indian influence than Rubber Soul, particularly on Love You To, one of three songs Harrison contributed to the record- his personal best. It also featured backwards vocals and tape loops on songs such as She Said She Said and Tomorrow Never Knows, and some of the Beatles' most innovative instrumentation on Eleanor Rigby and For No One. The central theme of the album is death, both literal and metaphorical.

The songs reflect the influence of psychedelic drugs such as LSD and the increasing sophistication of the Beatles' lyrics to address themes including death and transcendence from material concerns

Longtime Beatles producer George Martin, justifiably upset that EMI refused to give him a raise on the back of his extraordinarily profitable work with the Beatles, quit his post with the label in August 1965. Martin used his clout to create his own company, and the group and producer used theirs to effectively camp out at Abbey Road Studios for whatever length of time suited them rather than being forced to comply to the rigid and economically sound schedules demanded by labels at the time
