Neil Landstrumm, long a techno mainstay, returns to Planet Mu for another album of booty-shaking grooves, this time in the form for LORD FOR £39, which gets off to a speedy start with the jiggly breaks of "Transmission" (which also showcases the blippy leanings of collaborator Si Begg). Landstrumm seems to be playing with shorter tracks here, as if testing the waters of grime ("Easter Krunk Power") or ragga dubstep ("Shit Daddy Bass") that fades into a techno black hole.

Neil Landstrumm's unique brand of jittery, off-kilter broken beat grime and psychedelic dubstep is given a slightly grungy, lo-fi makeover on Lord for £39, his second offering on the Planet Mu label.

The album closes on a solidly positive note, though, with the excellent "Ross Kemp as Pixel. Read full description. See details and exclusions. See all 3 brand new listings.

Neil Landstrumm follows the phenomenal success of his 'Restaurant Of Assasins' LP with his second longplayer for Planet Mu on 'Lord for £39', a title which apparently refers to being a baron on the cheap, and hijacking the the system after greed has caused it to fail and getting on top (nope, us neither).

But "Little Help From Rustie" and "Dirty Butcher" have plenty of dark joggling to keep the wobbleheads happy. Landstrumm doesn't seem to be blindly following the dubstep trend, as the heavy bass of "£20 To Get Home" might hint; the delicacy and Detroitian warmth of "The King Of Malta" suggests that he's simply charting his own path, and the combination of video game bleeps and deep bass shows him trying to merge these ideas together. The brief "Witches Butter" is a mood piece that makes you look around for signs of evildoing from your speakers. All-in-all, it's been a interesting transition for Landstrumm, one that shows how adept he is at different genres.
