Even with ZTT at the helm of her music-career, Pigalle faced an uphill struggle from the off. If there was one way, one of many ways, to perplex the occasionally narrow-minded UK music-critics, it was to have been French. Every inch the face of The Face thirty years ago, Pigalle's stylish chansons d'amour sound remarkably contemporary in 2015.

Anne PigalleEverything Could Be So PerfectZTT NAMES come to min. istant, luxuriant, exotic names. In fact, the only pain throughout the album occurs when Miss Pigalle actually tries to sing. A torch singer with no flames. The bogus sophistication of Looking For Love, and the mindboggling emptiness of Souvenier D’Un Paris are only partly made pallatable by Luis Jardim’s sheen of production-a task overseen by the ever-present Trevor Horn.
