The title should be "Mory Kante yeke yeke (afro acid mix dj pierre)" No one seems to have picked up on that. mobbidick répression. Oh ptit lendemain de teuf sa passe mais im-pec-cable ! ;) 6 years назад.

this is the track 'hawtin' is playing 10 words must be
I'm 100% sure that this is the same 'Afro Acid' remix that appears on the Club Standards 2x12" - and is the one that Hawtin plays. Here's my copy playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FhhyV2lbZoA similar mix (but housier with more trumpets) was also released in 1987, similar cat. no. LONXR 171 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg6-jmQd6kg
I just purchase a copy of this release with cat. # LONX 171a. There is no "X" in the cat. #, and it's the version with trumpets.
There are two different remixes with the same name on these two different releases:http://www.discogs.com/Mory-Kanté-Yé-Ké-Yé-Ké/release/118059 (original 1987 release)http://www.discogs.com/Mory-Kanté-Yeke-Yeke/release/468144 (released in 2005)"Yé Ké Yé Ké (The Afro Acid Remix)" from the original release is a different track from "Yeke Yeke ("Afro Acid" Mix)" from the 2005 release.End of story.
hi Henginethanks for your reply. If the clips on the internet are of the mix on the 2005 release, then that mix and the one on this record are the same. I'll post a video clearing this up in a bit. There's a similar mix (but housier with more trumpets) that was also released in 1987, similar cat. no. LONXR 171 - maybe this is where the confusion is coming from.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg6-jmQd6kg
All clips on the Internet I've seen are of the 2005 mix. So far not come across any of the 1987 release. At least one clip shows the 1987 sleeve, but the track uploaded is not the corresponding release.
okaaay. so can you point me to a clip of the 2005 mix?thanks
I've got a copy of this 12". The version of the 'Afro Acid Remix' is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5ZloTHrSjgsounds to me like the one hawtin plays.. here at least: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo4toHs4jYg
the one on this disc is slightly different from the one on the green vinyl pressing - it has longer intro - other than that I'm having difficulty distinguishing them. Maybe it sounds different in a club.. or my speakers / ears are shit, but they sound pretty much identical to me..!http://www.discogs.com/Mory-Kant%C3%A9-Yeke-Yeke/release/468144 :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mduqCdZ5eFs&feature=relatedand this one:http://www.discogs.com/Mory-Kant%C3%A9-Y%C3%A9-K%C3%A9-Y%C3%A9-K%C3%A9/release/118059http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5ZloTHrSjg
Phallozs Dwarfs
That youtube clip is not of the Afro-Acid Remix from this disc.
5/5 for the Afro-Acid Remix (the rest of the disc is unmemorable) but no - it's not the one played by Hawtin. This original 1987 Afro Acid Remix has a driving tribal house sound, but lacks the wonky acid effects which make the release on club standards such a floor filler. Still a great tune - but I suggest listening to the different mixes on youtube if you're unsure about what you're getting.
The Hardfloor mix is an absolute classic - still puts a smile on my face. The afroacid mix is worth a listen too, if only for the curiosity factor that it's remixed by 4AD stalwarts Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins) and Martyn Young (Colourbox/M|A|R|R|S).
Buyer beware that the Afro Acid Remix on this vinyl is not the one that has the acid elements. If you're buying this one thinking it will sound like the one that Richie Hawtin has been playing you'll be disappointed. The acid elements are swapped out for trumpets and other jazz gear. Not a bad take but its just not the same. If you want the real deal you have to get the green double vinyl version cat number CS 003 on the label "Club Standards" Edit: It has come to my attention that the Club Standards vinyl may not be the only one to contain the version that Hawtin plays. If anyone else can point us to other cat numbers with Hawtin's version it would be very helpful as I am still seeking this version.
Hawtin doesn't play the Hardfloor Remix. He plays the Afro Acid Mix.
the version with the trumpets etc (this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5U_NTXhZCI) is, if i'm not wrong, Mory's House Remix..?http://www.discogs.com/Mory-Kante-Y%C3%A9-K%C3%A9-Y%C3%A9-K%C3%A9-Morys-House-Remix/release/93935
I appreciate the research you put into it but its not the Hardfloor that Hawtin plays, its the Afro Acid. I recently got the version I desired on Polydor with this cat number: 887 948-1
Hawtin? Hardfloor mate. Its the Hardfloor mix you are seeking, I believe. If you are a clubber of a certain (ahem) age, this is the one that ripped your head off all those years ago, and is still quite up to the task, given a novice crowd (probably born before the tune got its first airing) and a set of able trigger-fingers...These appear to be all the 12" releases that have cat numbers containing the two Hardfloor mixes up on 'ogs..851 261-1, TABX 226, 573 097-1, FXDJ 288, FX 288, CS 003Basically, if it doesnt say Hardfloor ON the tin, it ain't Hardfloor IN the tin! :)
